Vice Ganda said that ‘It’s Showtime’ is aiming for a change but…
Comedian-host Vice Ganda reacted to the negative comments about Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime saying that it is now like a “talk show” and it’s “luma”.
For more than a decade, the show has been part of the daily routine of loyal Kapamilya viewers. However, just recently, the hashtag “Reformat It’s Showtime” became a trending topic. Through this, viewers were able to say what they think about the show currently.
Based on the article in PEP, there were those who said that it is now “mukhang talk show” and “luma” because of the long conversations that are happening during the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment.
In a recent interview, Vice Ganda was asked to react to this comments. He said that he is aware that netizens have these “constructive criticisms”. However, he stressed that even before the online community created a buzz regarding the reformat, they already thought about it.
“But to be fair also with the staff and with the show, even before there was clamor already, nakikita na namin iyon. Kami mismo, gusto na namin ng change, gusto na namin ng bagong segments, gusto na naming mag-offer ng maraming bagay na bago,” the Unkabogable Star said.
Despite having this good intention for the show, they were not able to materialize this because of the pandemic and they need to follow protocols that keep on changing.
“Just like for the studio, it has been a major concern na mag-redesign kami ng studio. Nangyari na dapat siya bago pa mag-Holy Week. So noong naka-schedule siya na i-redesign noong Holy Week, nag-tape na kami ng mga ipapalabas naming mga episodes,” the comedian-host shared.
He also stressed that hearing comments about reformat or the studio redesign saddened him because it sounded like that they made “pabaya”.
“Okray sila nang okray sa programa na feeling nila, pinapabayaan namin iyong programa, hindi namin sila sinusunod. Kung alam lang nila iyong paghihirap ng staff ‘tapos iyong mga bagong segments, ang tagal na,” he said.
Vice Ganda added that he himself is also demanding to have new segments in the show but he understands the current situation that live shows have to face amid this crisis.
