5 Chinese POGO Workers with Pinoy Driver Arrested After Kidnapping Attempt

Authorities arrested five (5) Chinese nationals working as Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers after their kidnapping attempt.

According to the report, five Chinese nationals purportedly working for POGO and their Filipino driver were arrested on Thursday after the authorities discovered their kidnapping attempt against a fellow POGO employee in Paraaque City.

At around 1 p.m., the suspects attempted to kidnap Yang Shang Yu, 23, according to Major Melvin Florida of the Paraaque Police Department. The suspects approached Yu when he exited his Grab car in Barangay Tambo and struck up a discussion.

This escalated into a brawl until the perpetrators attempted to transport the victim in a black Toyota Hiace with the license plate NZT5063. The guards were alerted to the ruckus and dispatched police officers.

The car was able to be stopped and the victim was rescued. The victim was accused of having a debt of P750,000. Meanwhile, the suspects, including Filipino driver Nelson Malavega, are being held at Paraaque Police Station 2.
