New York Festivals 2021: ABS-CBN & GMA Shows Nominated

NEW YORK FESTIVALS 2021 – These ABS-CBN and GMA-7 shows have notched a nomination in the prestigious New York Festivals 2021.

New York Festivals’ World’s Best TV & Film Awards 2021 is where GMA-7 five shows and one from ABS-CBN have landed a nomination. This particular category “honors content in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries”. It has 14 Category Groups: News Programs, News Reports/Features, Sports Programs, Documentary, Entertainment Programs, Entertainment Specials, Program Crafts, Promotions/Station IDs & Opens, Promo/ID & Open Crafts, Streaming, Student, Films, Corporate Image, and Film Crafts.

New York Festivals 2021

Here are the GMA nominations:

  • Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho episode entitled “The Woman Slashed On Her Face” in Documentary: Social Justice documentary. This story is about domestic abuse and the worsening situation of gender-based violence due to the pandemic protocol of community quarantine.
  • Reel Time episode entitles “This Abled” in the Documentary: Heroes category. This is the story of a man with no legs and tackled the discrimination against people with disabilities in terms of job opportunities.
  • Reporter’s Notebook episode entitled “Miguel’s Wounds” in Documentary: Health/Medical Information category. This story is about a man with a mysterious condition where his skin is being peeled off and left with wounds all over.
  • The Atom Araullo Specials episode entitled “Dreams of Gold” in Program: Sports Documentary category. This is the show’s third consecutive NYF nomination.
  • Alden’s Reality: The Virtual Reality Concert in Entertainment Special: Special Event category.

The one from ABS-CBN is the documentary entitled Fedelina: A Stolen Life under NYF’s Documentary: Biography/Profiles category. This is one of the few that the network has made amid their worst year. This is about the story of 83-year-old Fedelina Lugasan who was a victim of slavery for 65 years by her trafficker in California.
