Robredo Politicking Following COVID-19 Statement Regarding Davao City – Mayor Duterte

ROBREDO POLITICKING – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio emphasized that Robredo was mixing politics with her recent statements.

During her weekly show, Vice President Leni Robredo cited how Davao City had a recent surge in COVID-19 cases. Furthermore, she compared Davao to Cebu and said that the former could learn from the latter.

Robredo said that the local government of Cebu had an active role with coordinating with the medical community and that Davao should do the same. But, Duterte took this as an insult, not only to her, but to the medical community of Davao.

The VP should avoid involving the COVID-19 surge in Davao City in her attempt at politicking,” Duterte said in a statement. She said Robredo must not give “advice if she (knew) nothing about what is happening on the ground

As such, the Davao City Mayor warned Robredo that there would be a proper time for Robredo to attack her performance as an LGU head. Moreover, Duterte stated that the medical community in Davao is far from “inactive” when it comes to handling the COVID-19 surge.

This has been the hallmark of her term as VP, where she puts forth comments on matters and affairs she lacks understanding and knowledge of and does not offer anything helpful to solve a problem

Additionally, the Department of Health condemned calling Davao City the new epicenter of COVID-19 despite the surge in cases. What do you think about this? Leave your comments below.
