NBI Arrests Lawyer In Naga City During Entrapment Operation

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a lawyer in Naga City during an entrapment operation due to alleged extortion.

The lawyer identified as Atty. Ferdino Condez reportedly introduced himself as a member of the Optical Media Board (OMB). He allegedly extorted a cellphone shop with almost half a million.

NBI Naga reported that a businessman went to their office to file a complained against a certain Atty. Ferdino Condez from OMB. The agency received the complaint last June 8, 2021.

Entrapment Operation

According to the entrepreneur, some alleged OMB members went to the cellphone shop and confiscated the memory cards and cellphones displayed on the store. Condez said that the store would be shut down over alleged violation.

The suspect allegedly asked P500, 000 from the shop owner to prevent the closure of the store. The owner complained that they could not afford it and settled the agreement at P350, 000.

However, Condez has cooperated with NBI before making the agreement. The authorities arrested the suspect while taking the mark money during the entrapment operation at the restaurant of a hotel in Naga City.

Entrapment Operation

Condez would face Violation of Article 294 (Robbery/Extortion) of the Revised Penal Code as amended and Violation of Republic Act 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) for his illegal activity.
