Run Sara Event Tagged As Potential Superspreader Event, Officials Face Charges

RUN SARA RUN – An event in support of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to run for office in 2022 was tagged in the superspreader investigations.

Recently, an event held in Cebu City went viral for allegedly breaking health protocols. As such, the Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said more officials now face charges for failing to prevent a possible coronavirus “superspread event”.

During President Duterte’s public address on Monday, the Interior Secretary cited six barangay officials charged for allowing large gatherings in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Boracay, Aklan, and Cebu.

Additionally, two more barangay officials are facing probes and could be charged for breaching COVID-19 health protocols. In an interview with CNN, Año stated that he’s now anticipating official reports in Barangay Matandang Balara, Quezon City.

The first was charged for organizing a community pantry by District 3 Councilor Franz Pumaren back in May 25. This community pantry had over a thousand people in attendance. Meanwhile, the other allowed a wedding party wherein several attendees testing positive for COVID-19.

In another interview, Año, who was talking about the recent Run Sara Run event in Cebu said:

If somebody will give me complete information then we will conduct an investigation. Whoever is responsible for organizing that event, we will hold accountable
