Face Shields Could Help Prevent COVID-19 Transmission Amid Mayor Isko’s Proposal to Stop Requiring Filipinos to Wear Face Shields Outside Homes, PMA Says
The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) said that face shields could help prevent the COVID-19 Transmission.
On Saturday (June 5, 2021), PMA President Dr. Benito Atienza has finally respond to the proposal of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to stop requiring the public to wear face shields outside their homes.
Earlier this week, Moreno urged the national government to stop requiring the Filipinos to wear face shields in public places because Philippines is the only country in the world making such requirement.
Dr. Atienza explained that using face shields will help prevent the transmission of the coronavirus disease together with usage of face masks, washing of hands, and observing social distancing.
The health personnel also encouraged the public to strictly observe the health protocols in public placed for the safety and wellness of everyone.
“Para sa amin ay magsuot pa rin ng face masks, face shield, maghugas ng kamay, at sumunod pa rin ng physical distancing. Malaki ang maitutulong sa proteksyon laban sa COVID-19 ang pagsusuot ng face masks at face shield,” Atienza said.
