Rabiya Mateo Admits Being ‘People Pleaser’, How She Deals w/ Bashers

Rabiya Mateo shared how she would react to negative comments against her

Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo admitted that she tends to be a “people please” and this is how she deals with the bashers.

Rabiya is a newbie when it comes to the world of pageantry. However, she was able to win the Miss Iloilo crown as a first-timer. After that, she was able to win her first national pageant title even though she competed with pageant veterans.

During a recent interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda, Rabiya admitted that bashing is sort of a detrimental weapon against her. She gets affected by the negative comments being thrown at her. She admitted that during the Miss Universe competition, she was overthinking of how she would win because she was so afraid to fail.

“I need to do this, I need to please the Filipinos, I need to sacrifice a lot of things. Every time na naiinvalidate yun, I feel bad. Parang even I asked myself, is this even worthy of every thing?” Rabiya Mateo shared.

She added that competing in the Miss Universe pageant was really difficult. The Ilongga beauty queen even had last-minute coaching just to assure that she would do it right.

Rabiya is also aware of the bashing against her that circulated on social media. She said that she can’t totally avoid not reading what are the things written against her.

There are times that she would wake up in the morning and reading comments from bashers would make her cry. “And I would look at the mirror, see myself and I would hate my body. I would hate how I’d look like. I would hate the things that I would wear kasi ayaw yun ng tao. It’s not enough. I’m always not enough for them,” Rabiya Mateo added.
