ANDREA BRILLANTES – Young Kapamilya actress Andrea Brillantes spoke about her bulimia and her suffering from it for years.
Among the most-followed artists on social media and the well-loved young actress of her generation is Andrea Brillantes. She is a multi-talented artist and popular role in Kadenang Ginto as Marga Mondragon. And portraying a role in ‘Click, Like, Share’, the actress revealed that her character is someone who is suffering from bulimia nervosa which is the same disorder she suffered for years.
Opening up about this, she has made it her advocacy to spread awareness about this condition because she herself has suffered from it. And her role as Beth is also suffering the same physical and emotional torment just like her before. During the recent Click, Like, Share mediacon, she shared that she went through it but never came to a point that she made a fake person out of herself online to seek validation from others through an application.
Aside from her bulimia nervosa, she also had an acne breakout which she was also able to overcome. The 18-year-old actress expressed, “Sa Kadenang Ginto bago ako pumunta sa set iiyak muna ako sa kotse kasi ang dami kong pimples. Kapag kinakausap ako hindi ako tumitingin kasi nahihiya ako.”
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder and is a serious condition. This happens when a person binges on food in large amounts and drastically wanting to lose the calories consumed through vomiting, excessive exercising, or abuse of laxatives or diuretics. And this can have bad effects on the body and may cause permanent damages. Aside from the physical effects, it is also associated with mental problems like anxiety and depression.
