PNP Official Apologized to Community Pantry Organizers After Red-Tagging Posts
An official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has apologized to the community pantry organizers over recent profiling and red-tagging posts allegedly by policemen.
The Philippine National Police Human Rights Affairs Office (PNP-HRAO) chief has apologised to community pantry organizers who have been subjected to profiling by some police officers, recalling the forced closure of Ana Patricia Non’s Maginahawa community pantry due to redtagging.

Police Brigadier General Vincent Calanoga, acting head of the PNP-HRAO, testified before the House Committee on Human Rights that his officers are not guided to profile community pantry organizers. He said that not everybody in the PNP was involved in any of the incidents.
The PNP-HRAO expresses its regret to those who have been affected. Cops ask about food pantries, according to Calanoga, since they are supposed to be aware of all events in their jurisdiction.
According to the official, PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar’s order to support and protect pantries. Last April, the community pantry in Quezon City shut down for a day because the organizer feared for her safety. Non said she was red-tagged and that police officers asked for her phone number and asks which group she was a member of.
