Apart from him, his son Vincent was charged with breaching the COVID-19 health recommendations of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, as well as illicit gambling and game-fixing. Lawrence Bindoy, the barangay secretary’s husband, was charged with allegedly collecting bets from boxing matches.
Locals used to organize street boxing matches during fiestas, according to Manila Police District Station 1 commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Paul Doles. Since there was no evidence of social distancing and no one was wearing face masks or shields, the incident was classified as a COVID-19 spreader.
When barangay officials and police arrived at the alleged illegal assembly, everybody had already fled the scene. Local authorities have also denied any involvement in the illegal gathering.
The event had not been announced, according to the chairman. They just turned up and started the boxing match. A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were among the combatants in the street fights, and police were attempting to locate them.
