President Duterte Declares May 13 (Thursday) as Regular Holiday in Observance of Eid’l Fitr

President Duterte has declared May 13 (Thursday) as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr to end Muslims’ Ramadan.

Malacañang Palace said that President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Proclamation No. 1142 declaring May 13, 2021 as a regular holiday. Eid’l Fitr is celebrated for three days as the culmination of Muslims’ month-long Ramadan.

The Proclamation No. 1142 states that the regular holiday aims to give Muslim Filipinos the full opportunity to participate in the observance of the holiday. However, health protocols must be observed during the celebration.

“The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, subject to community quarantine, social distancing and other public health measures,” the proclamation states.

The employees who will report to work during the regular holiday would receive 200 percent of their daily wage in the first eight hours. Workers who will work overtime are entitled to receive an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.

The workers who will not work on a regular holiday are entitled to receive 100 percent of their daily rate.

Ramadan

The Department of Health also reminded the public to observe the health protocols in places of worship or in public places during the celebration of the Muslim holiday.
