Ukrainian Authorities Seized 1,500 Bottles Of Radio Active Vodka From Chernobyl

RADIO ACTIVE VODKA – Authorities have impounded over 1,5000 bottles of ATOMIK, a vodka from Chernobyl.

Back in 1986, Chernobyl suffered a massive nuclear explosion that left the place uninhabitable due to high levels of radiations. As such, the surrounding areas were left to pause their exports due to the danger.

To date, people still avoid getting and consuming products near Chernobyl. However, the vodka, “ATOMIK” has recently gained popularity with many tempted to try out the drink.

ATOMIK was once a popular drink produced by the Chernobyl Spirit Company. The producers of the drink claimed that it was the first ever commercial product from Chernobyl since the nuclear disaster.

Naturally, shipping the product to the public remained difficult. Recently, Ukrainian authorities seized over 1,500 bottles of the drink. Meanwhile, Professor Jim Smith, who spent years researching Chernobyl with Ukrainian colleagues before founding the Chernobyl Spirit Company, has provided some clarity. ‘It seems that they [the Ukrainian authorities] are accusing us of using forged Ukrainian excise stamps,’ Smith stated.

Luckily studies on the vodka revealed that people should not be concerned about it being radioactive. According to studies, its “no more radioactive than any other vodka”.

The team did research in the abandoned 4,000-square-kilometer Chernobyl exclusion zone, which included the development of experimental crops. The Chernobyl Spirit Company now sells an apple-based spirit from the Narodichi district, which is just outside the exclusion zone, where agricultural production is severely off limits.
