OCTA Research Says Metro Manila COVID-19 Infections Declining
METRO MANILA COVID-19 – According to the OCTA Research Group, the number of coronavirus infections in Metro Manila have been declining.
Following the surge of COVID-19 infections in March, Metro Manila and four nearby provinces were placed under an enhanced community quarantine. Following this, the lockdown was lowered to a modified enhanced community quarantine as cases begin to drop.
Afterward, the continue the downtrend but also give leeway to the economy , the government decided to go through with MECQ “Flexi”. Meanwhile, during an interview with ABS-CBN, Guido David of OCTA research said:
“We can say it’s a downward trend pero unstable pa rin kasi ang ibang LGU ‘di pa ganun ka stable ang decrease nila”
Manila, ever since the surge has had a massive decline in daily COVID-19 infections. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Manila, Navotas, Pasay, and Pateros had up to a 75% decrease in the number of cases.
Furthermore, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, and Valenzuela had a “flat” trend. Additionally, the number of cases in Parañaque and Mandaluyong had a decline. Following this, Guido note that an ease of quarantine restrictions or the MECQ “Flexi” may be implemented gradually. However, he said that the government and concerned bodies would have to reassess the situation next week.
Currently, the Philippines has a total of 1,062,225 COVID-19 infections. Of that number, 69,466 are considered active infections with 7,255 new cases reported on Monday.
