According to the report, Unichar’s see-through face mask was developed not to get fogged up by the wearer’s breath. It could also help in reading the facial expression of people working in customer service industries.

The executive director of the Tokyo Federation of Deaf, Daisuke Ochi said the see-through face masks will be very useful in daily situations like asking for a plastic bag or chopsticks.

“When the other person is wearing a mask, you can’t tell if he or she is angry or laughing, making communication difficult,” he said.
