DOH Warns Public Against Overpricing of Remdesivir for COVID-19
The Department of Health (DOH) has warned the public about the overpricing of anti-viral drug Remdesivir that currently used in the country.
Remdesiver is an experimental drug used in the Philippines to treat patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The suggested retail price for a 100-milligram vial of Remdesivir, according to the DOH, is P1,500 to P8,200.

The antiviral drug’s usage also necessitates a compassionate use permit from the Food and Drug Administration, according to the statement. The organization also urged the public to email [email protected] with any complaints or concerns.
Remdesivir is not intended for commercial use, according to Vergeire. Remdesivir is being used as a supplement for COVID-19 patients at the moment. According to a new report, the medication will help people with a higher risk of serious infection stay sick for less time.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education (DepEd) is hoping that the government would start vaccinating all school personnel including teachers by June 2021. The department is eyeing that the Philippine government would begin implementing the vaccine program for teaching and non-teaching personnel. They want to place teachers on the priority list.
