Bimby Asks Kris Aquino About James Yap

KRIS AQUINO – The Queen of All Media spoke about her ex-husband, basketball player James Yap, to their son, Bimby Aquino-Yap.

The Aquinos are among the most popular celebrity families in the Philippines. They are known not only in the political arena but as well as in show business with actress-TV host Kris Aquino being one of the most in-demand and bankable stars that the industry ever had.

The Aquinos are really popular in the political arena. The youngest among the five (5) siblings, Kris entered the show business instead of politics. She starred several movies and hosted many television programs including The Buzz, one of the most popular talk shows of the ABS-CBN Network.

A huge part of the personal life of Kris Aquino is not a secret to the public. She has two (2) sons – Joshua and Bimby. Her eldest is her son with actor Philip Salvador and the youngest is her son with her basketball player ex-husband, James Yap.

In 2005, Kris and James officially tied the knot in a civil wedding. After two (2) years, their marriage was blessed with a son they named after the professional basketball player and nicknamed “Bimby”.

However, the celebrity couple separated and their son remained with the actress-TV host. Recently, in an interview with her son, the 14-year-old asked the actress about his father.

Bimby asked Kris Aquino what was she thinking when she married James Yap. According to the Queen of All Media, it was a “leap of faith” for her because her two (2) previous relationships who were both not annulled got her hang-ups.

The actress-TV host said that what made James special was that he told her something about his past that he did not have to tell her. She did not go into details but admitted that she was impressed by his gesture.

During their interview, Kris Aquino also cited that James Yap was very young then and stressed that “you’re a lot braver when you’re young”. She was 34 years old while he was 11 years her junior.

“I thought it could work. I honestly thought it could work, not realizing he was too young. We really came from two very different worlds. I wanted it to work,” the actress-TV host said. Here’s the interview:
