Seller of Face Masks Arrested After He Dressed as Fireman to Pass Checkpoint

Man seller of face masks arrested at a quarantine checkpoint after he dressed and pretended as fireman to pass checkpoint to deliver his products.

The personnel of the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) could not get through the tactic of a man who pretended to be a firefighter to avoid being intercepted at the checkpoint and deliver the face mask and face shield he sells.

Seller Dressed as Fireman

In a report of GMA News, the man was identified as Konsulyano Padilla, an entrepreneur. He was intercepted by PNP-HPG personnel at the NLEX checkpoint as he planned to enter Metro Manila for his delivery.

When questioned, Padilla allegedly introduced himself as a member of the Bureau and Fire Protection (BFP) and allegedly just monitored the area while riding in an SUV and wearing a t-shirt with BFP written on it.

But when the PNP-HPG verified the ID shown, it was discovered that Padilla was not a member of the BFP. When the back of the SUV was opened, they saw boxes of face masks and face shields that Padilla planned to deliver.

Padilla admitted to the PNP-HPG that he was pretending to be a BFP personnel to easily get to various places while the enhanced community quarantine exists in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. Padilla will be charged with usurpation of authority and violation of quarantine by the fiscal office.

  1. It’s ignorance to wear a fireman’s uniform, instead of securing business permit to sell the protective gear. What a pity!
