Malacañang Issues Statement on Death of Prince Philip, Husband of Queen Elizabeth II
PRINCE PHILIP – Malacañang sent condolences to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II following the death of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Britain is currently mourning the death of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and the husband of Queen Elizabeth II. He died at the age of 99 at Windsor Palace.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have four (4) children – Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales; Prince Andrew, the Duke of York; Princess Anne, the Princess Royal; and Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.
Earlier this year, the Duke of Edinburgh was hospitalized due to infection. He was treated and returned to Windsor Palace.

After knowing about the death of Prince Philip, Malacañang was quick to release a statement and sent condolences to Queen Elizabeth II. Based on a report in ABS-CBN News, in its statement, the Palace stressed the strong bilateral ties between PH and the United Kingdom and expressed sharing of the grief of the British people amid the loss.
“On behalf of the Filipino people, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte extends his deep condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the passing of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh… We pray for the eternal repose of his soul and for The Royal Family to find strength in this time of mourning,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
Based on the report, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. also expressed sympathies to UK Ambassador Daniel Pruce over the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. He was the strength of his wife in her 69-year term, the longest in the history of Britain.
Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, is the heir of Queen Elizabeth. Next to him is his eldest son, Prince William.
