MANNY VILLAR – Former senator Manny Villar is ranked second in the Top Richest person in the Philippines, according to Forbes.

Manny Villar also known by his full name Manuel Bimba Villar Jr. was a former senator, Senate President, and House Speaker. His wife, Cynthia Villar, is also a senator like him. He was also one of the candidates for presidency back in 2010 but lost against Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Forbes revealed the Philippines’ Richest List with Henry Sy being the first as always. Here are the following:

  1. Henry Sy – $18.3 billion
  2. Manny Villar – $5 billion
  3. John Gokongwei Jr. – $4.4 billion
  4. Jaime Zobel de Ayala – $4 billion
  5. Enrique Razon Jr. – $3.9 billion
  6. Tony Tan Cakitong – $3.85 billion
  7. Lucio Tan – $3.8 billion
  8. Ramon Ang – $2.85 billion
  9. George Tee – $2.75 billion
  10. Andrew Tan – $2.6 billion

An article in KAMI said that Manny grew up in the slums of Tondo, Manila. He took up business administraion, then a master’s degree in University of the Philippines-Diliman.

He is the founder of Villar Group Companies and the chairman of Starmalls; and Vista & Landscapes. Manny’s flagship property was C&P Homes and was listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

As per the report, his family owns the Golden Haven Memorial Park and Golden Bria Holdings; Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc., in which this was privately owned; and Vista Malls. Manny invested in coffee shops and owned the growing “The Coffee Project” and currently owned Vitacare Healthgroup Inc.; a powerhouse in Tagaytay City; and residential properties in Las Pinas and The Fort.
