VP Leni Robredo speaks about viral “lugaw” issue
The statement of Department of the Interior and Local Government Usec. Epimaco Densing III about the viral “lugaw” issue received a reaction from Vice President Leni Robredo.
Densing supported barangay official Phez Raymundo when she hindered a delivery driver who was about to deliver “lugaw” while the NCR and nearby provinces is under the enhanced community quarantine.
Raymundo insisted to delivery driver Marvin Ignacio that “lugaw” is not essential and even showed a document wherein the protocols were written.
Usec. Densing said, “Hindi talaga essential si lugaw.” Since “si” was used, the statement referred to a person. This statement of the DILG official trying to differentiate “si lugaw” and “ang lugaw” became a trending topic online.
Because of that, it is inevitable for the public to assume that Densing was taking shading VP Leni Robredo.
In line this statement of the DILG Usec., based on the report from News 5, the Vice President of the Philippines has this reaction.
She said that she knows a lot of people in the department who are “professional at napakahusay” and it saddened her that someone like Densing belonged there.
“Lesson ito sa ating mga nasa gobyerno na tayo ang nagha-hire, nag-aappoint. Sana naman pagbasehan natin sa competency at hindi lang sa politika,” VP Leni Robredo added.
Meanwhile, Phez Raymundo already apologized to Marvin Ignacio after the incident that went viral on social media. The latter clarified in a previous interview that there was a fake Facebook account claiming to be the barangay official and even blamed the IATF for the “confusing” protocols”. He also revealed that he received threats after that incident.
