Clarita Crisostomo Dela Fuente-De Guzman or better known as Claire dela Fuente is a Pinay singer who achieved status in the Philippine entertainment industry in the late 1970s with her jukebox hit titled “Sayang.” She’s was dubbed as the “Karen Carpenter of the Philippines” due to her sweet voice.

de la Fuente’s first album in 1977 was then the country’s biggest-ever seller. Besides “Sayang,” she’s also known for hits like “Nakaw Na Pag-ibig” and “Minsan-minsan.”

Claire dela Fuente was given the title Queen of Tagalong Song” alongside late singer Rico J. Puno as her counterpart. The singer is also dubbed as “Jukebox Queen” together with her fellow artists Eva Eugenio, the late Didith Reyes, and Imelda Papin. She was also dubbed “Asia’s Sweetest Voice” during her career.

dela Fuente’s was born on December 28, 1958, in Manila. She was 15-years-old when she won the grand prize of the first singing contest she joined.

In her mid-20s, dela Fuente left the showbusiness after reaping its financial rewards. She became a successful businesswoman and became the president of the Integrated Metropolitan Bus Operators Association (IMBOA).

In December 2006, dela Fuente’s husband Moises de Guzman died after a 5-month struggle with cancer. He left behind de la Fuente together with their 2 sons Gregorio and Gracielo.

dela Fuente teamed up with American musician Richard Carpenter for her international album ‘Something In Your Eyes’ in 2008. Two years after that, de la Fuente recorded a duet with American singer-songwriter Michael Bolton, “The Christmas Song.”
