6-Year-Old Black Kid Arrested, Swamped With Papers For Picking Flowers

6-YEAR-OLD BLACK KID ARRESTED – Authorities arrested a six-year-old kid for plucking tulips from a lawn at a bus stop.

Surely, some people take pride in their lawns. However, some take this too far. According to reports, the child’s lawyer gave him a coloring book while they were sitting before a North Carolina judge.

The lawyer, Julie Boyer, said the child’s attention span was too short to follow proceedings. Furthermore, Boyer emphasized that the case was “just appalling”. As per the report from Journal Now, the mother couldn’t make the initial meeting. Due to this, the 6-year-old had to face a judge.

Luckily, upon reading the case, the Judge quickly dismissed it.

Should a child that believes in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the tooth fairy be making life-altering decisions”, New Hanover County Chief District Court Judge Jay Corpening said.

Meanwhile, juvenile chief Mary Stansell commended the case and said this was a clear example of racial discrimination.

“When a cop picks up a white boy, he takes him to his parent. But if he is black, he takes him to the state.”

Furthermore, after the arrest, the 6-year-old accused of picking tulips was swamped with papers regarding his charges of “injury to real property”. Sadly, the minimum age for a child to enter the juvenile justice system in North Carolina was the lowest in the world at six years old.

As such, efforts to increase the age to 12-14 years old are being made. Moreover, advocates are calling out for a systemic change with a focus on counseling rather than detention.
