Pinoy netizens are currently gushing about the crew members aboard a Spanish Navy ship due to their handsome faces.

SPANISH NAVY SHIP – For the Quincentennial Celebration of the world’s first circumnavigation, a Spanish navy ship with handsome sailors catches online attention.

Juan Sebastian Elcano, a training ship of the Spanish Royal Navy, arrived in the Philippines, specifically in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, on March 16, to mark the 500th anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the globe. The ship will stay in Suluan and Homonhon islands until March 18 and in Cebu from March 20 to 22. This is to commemorate the historical Magellan-Elcano expedition that made the iconic circumnavigation possible.

The said ship is named after the explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano, a Castilian navigator from the town of Basque in Guetaria. He was the first to circumnavigate the world after Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan got killed by Lapu-Lapu in Mactan. The event is historically known as the Battle of Mactan where the first Filipino defeated a Western conqueror. Lapu-Lapu is regarded as a country’s hero.

Magellan was already three-quarters of his way around the globe when the tribal skirmish that took his life happened. And Juan Sebastian Elcano, following his death took the command of the voyage with the carrack Victoria from the Moluccas to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Spain. The circumnavigation lasted for three years. And 500 years after, the ship named after him returned to the country to remark one of the most significant achievements in the history of mankind.

And as the ship arrived in the Philippines last week, photos of the crew members aboard have caught the attention of many Filipinos online. Tall, dark, handsome, masculine, and brooding are most of the seafarers of the ship have charmed Pinoy netizens.

In a viral post online from Facebook user named Tine Roxas, she shared some photos of a sub-lieutenant or a subordinate officer named Luis Martinez Garcia. She said on her post, “I guess he is the Sub-lieutenant of Spanish Navy training ship Juan Sebastian Elcano that docks in Cebu City😌”
