Muntinlupa Government Questions BuCor After Placing Concrete Barrier in a Village
The local government of Muntinlupa questions the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) after a concrete barrier was placed between Insular Prison Road and Southville 3.
Recently, residents were shocked after a concrete barrier was placed between Insular Prison road and Southville 3 road. It was built by BuCor, with a wall made of hollow blocks and cement.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said in a statement on his official Facebook account that BuCor did not coordinate with the local government. They allegedly did not give enough information to the residents.
BuCor first sent a notice to the barangay on March 19 but did not mention that the barrier will be built permanently. Fresnedi stressed that the wall is a big inconvenience for the residents, as they have to turn around to another road.

He stressed that it could put them in jeopardy now that the COVID-19 case is on the rise. In a statement issued by Barangay Poblacion, they asked BuCor to send a service vehicle that residents can use to go to their work but BuCor has no response.
Barangay officials said they will pass a resolution to signal opposition to the construction of the wall and ask for the help of Fresnedi, Congressman Ruffy Biazon, and City Council to resolve the issue.
Biazon first went to the area to talk to some BuCor officials and affected residents. The congressman asserted that the roadblock was against the law.
Fresnedi has also sent a letter to BuCor for the immediate halt of the construction of the wall, the mayor also asked the residents to be calm while fixing the problem. BuCor has not yet issued a statement
