2 Men in Cebu Arrested for Allegedly Producing Fake Swab Test Results
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents arrested two men in Cebu City for allegedly producing fake swab test results.
In a report of Manila Bulletin, agents of NBI-Central Visayas (Region 7) arrested two men producing and selling fake swab test results. The first suspect was identified as Rakim Busara.
Busara was arrested in a buy-bust operation in a shop on Colon Street. Authorities seized fake real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results that were already printed.

After the arrest of Busara, the NBI conducted a follow-up operation and arrested Busara’s alleged cohort Rogelio Nebres, 40, in Pier 1 where the falsified documents were sold. According to NBI Region 7 Director Renan Oliva, each falsified document was sold for P1,500.
Oliva said that before the arrest, San Miguel, Bohol Mayor, and former NBI Director Virgilio Mendez reported in NBI Region 7 that the fake swab test results were sold at Pier 1.
The fake results of this swab test were being sold to passengers heading to Bohol, Oliva added. Oliva said the charges for estafa by falsifying public documents and violating Republic Act (RA) No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 will be filed against the two suspects.
