Mayor Isko Moreno Orders Probe Against “Express Swab Test” Modus Operandi

The Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso ordered to investigate the new modus operandi in Manila where suspects offers express swab test.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is investigating an operation in which the syndicates allegedly offered an expensive but fake COVID-19 swab test to residents of Manila who wanted to return to their province.

Mayor Moreno’s statement comes up after Lt. Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr. presented that two arrested suspects allegedly pretended to be employees of the city hall and offers fake swab tests to ‘Badjao’ people.

According to the report of Ibay, the suspects charge P1,000 for every swab test. Nearly 100 fake swab test results were seized from the arrested suspects.

The mayor reiterated that the Manila city government’s swab test is free. He also said that it is possible that the modus operandi is the ploy of the big syndicate involved in estafa and human trafficking.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Health (DOH) have warned the tourists and the producers of fake swab test results. Violators should face administrative cases of caught presenting and producing fake COVID-19 results.
