Cause of Death of Jan Catherine Sy – Granddaughter of Henry Sy Sr.
JAN CATHERINE SY CAUSE OF DEATH – The late business tycoon and SM Group of Companies founder Henry Sy Sr.’s granddaughter died at the age of 29.
One of the rags-to-riches stories that many people admire is the life story of the late business giant Henry Sy Sr. He is the founder of the SM Group of Companies or now called as the SM Investment. The said conglomerate owns many of the most popular businesses in the country.
It is the company behind SM shopping mall, the most popular shopping establishment in the Philippines with several stores nationwide. It all started with a shoe store that Henry Sr. put up when he decided not to go home with his family in China.
Henry Sr. was born in Fujian, China but he spent most of his growing years in the Philippines, He was 12 years old when his family moved to the Philippines. He grew up helping his parents in their little store that was wiped out by the World War II.
Meanwhile, it did not hinder Henry from persevering in life. The Filipino-Chinese man opened his first store in Quiapo when he was in his 20s. His success continued until he founded SM Group which brought him to become the richest man in the country for more than 10 years straight.
Last January 2019, Henry Sy Sr. died at the age of 94. SM Investment is now led by his son, Henry Sy Jr. Currently, his family is mourning over the death of Henry Jr.’s daughter, Jan Catherine Sy.

Based on a report on Pep, sepsis is the cause of death of Jan Catherine Sy. The granddaughter of Henry Sy Sr. was admitted at St. Luke’s Medical Center. Sepsis is a condition that happens when the response of the body to an infection is damaging its own tissues.
