On Thursday (January 24, 2019), masses have been held in different SM malls to pay tribute to the founder.
Henry Sy who died at the age of 94 has been buried today at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.
The 94-year-old business tycoon is the founder of SM Group who opened his first ShoeMart shop in Manila in 1958.
The Filipino-Chinese businessman successfully made his way into the retail industry and dubbed as the wealthiest people in the Philippines.
The late entrepreneur has a net worth of P986 billion, according to the Forbes Magazine 2018.
Sy’s demise indicates a change in the leadership of country’s mall giant to his six children: Teresita Sy-Coson, Elizabeth Sy, Henry Sy Jr, Hans Sy, Herbert Sy, and Harley Sy.
