Police Arrested a Thief After Selling the Stolen Cellphone to the Owner Online

A thief was arrested by the authorities after the owner reported him as he allegedly sold the cellphone he steals on social media.

A man was arrested after allegedly selling a stolen cellphone on social media in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Monday. This is after a victim reported to the police on Sunday that his cellphone was forcibly taken from him.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News, the victim discovered that his cellphone was already being sold to a Facebook group “Tagum Online Business”, so he sought help from the authorities.

The victim tried to transact with the seller and pretended to buy the cellphone, but it turned out to be an entrapment operation by the police. After the transaction, the police immediately arrested the suspect.

The stolen cellphone was returned to the victim and the suspect was positively identified. The suspect will face a violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-Fencing Law of 1979.

Meanwhile, the police authorities arrested a male suspect who tried to steal a motorcycle parked along Nakar and Diamante Street in San Andres Bukid. The motorcycle owner caught the suspect before he could escape carrying the motorcycle.

The motorcycle owner chased the suspect and two barangay tanods came to rescue the victim. However, the suspect fought back and stabbed the two barangay officials while trying to escape his crime.
