Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s revelations elicited mixed reactions online. Some of them sympathize while others said they lied.

Buckingham Palace released a statement regarding the couple’s Oprah interview. It says, “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately,” it added.

In an interview with Jenna Bush Hager for NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday, March 16, former First Lady Michelle Obama gave her thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell revelations. She reacted to the couple’s claims about the Royal Family and racism.

“Public service, it’s a bright, sharp, hot spotlight and most people don’t understand it, nor should they…”

“The thing that I always keep in mind is none of this is about us. In public service it’s about the people that I serve. I always try to push the light back out and focus on the folks that we’re actually here to serve,” Michelle added.

Michelle Obama said she wasn’t shocked when Megan Markle accused a member of the Royal Family of racism. She said she only hoped that the Royal Family will learn from the allegations made by the couple.

“Race isn’t a new construct in this world for people of color, and so it wasn’t a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to have them articulated.”

“I think the thing that I hope for, and the thing I think about, is that this, first and foremost, is a family. And I pray for forgiveness and healing for them, so that they can use this as a teachable moment for us all,” she added.
