Cavite Governor Says Kaybiang Tunnel to Become “No Tourism Zone” Starting Friday (March 19)

Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla said that Kaybiang Tunnel will become “No Tourism Zone” starting March 19, 2021 (Friday).

Governor Jonvic Remulla announced that Kaybiang Tunnel will not be open to tourists anymore after receiving complaints about massive traffic congestion, garbage, and scuffling tourists in the area.

Remulla said that the local government unit of Cavite will prohibit the parking of vehicles, eating, taking selfies, and loitering in the vicinity of Kaybiang Tunnel. Riders who were using tunnel for leisure purposes will be banned.

Vehicles and motorcycles are also prohibited to blow horns while driving along the 300-meter tunnel. The LGU would also place police checkpoints along Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate.

The city official said that an executive order will be issued regarding the rules and regulation in Kaybiang.

The tunnel is very popular among motorcycle riders, cyclists and tourists after it opened in 2013. It connects the towns of Ternate, Cavite and Nasugbu, Batangas. It runs through Mount Palay-Palay.
