Mothers Turn Answering Modules Into Profitable Side Hustle Amid Pandemic Hardships
“SAGOT FOR SALE” – Two mothers decided to turn answering modules as a “tutorial” into a profitable venture amid the pandemic.
As the coronavirus pandemic hit the Philippines, a major shift in the education system took place. Furthermore, the sudden transition took a toll on teachers, students, and parents alike.
Additionally, modular learning emphasized most of these problems. For many, modular learning became more of a “requirement” rather than a tool for knowledge. As such, parents took the opportunity to plump-up their kid’s grades by answering the modules themselves.
Meanwhile, some parents who initially gave free “tutorials” for these modules found a way to make bank on the new system. According to an article from One News, a mother of five in Albay said:
“Noong una, free lang muna since isang essay lang. Kaso habang tumatagal lalong dumadami ang pinapagawa sa kanila since graduating sila“.
She said students came to her to help them with essays required for their graduation from senior high school. Moreover, the mother noted how some modules were given at the same time.
Because of this, she gained more clients. So, from November 2020 to January 2021, the mother got around P13,600 from answering modules.
Likewise, another mother who worked as a tutor unfortunately lost her job due to the pandemic. This led her to conduct a “sagot for sale scheme”. As per the article, the tutor who refused to be named said she took the opportunity to support her family.
According to the tutor, parents of elementary students hire her to answer to answer their children’s modules. She said that she spends four days a week to finish five to seven modules to be passed every Friday morning. For answering modules alone, she disclosed that the family paid her P10,000.
