Northeast Monsoon Slightly Strengthens (March 3, 2021)

NORTHEAST MONSOON – Amihan or the Northeast Monsoon strengthens further after days of weakening due to hot weather.

According to a report from GMA News’ Balitambayan, amihan slightly strengthened and will bring cold winds but it will not be colder like before.

The country will soon pass the season of the said monsoon or amihan.

Yearly, the season of amihan usually ends during the third week of March. However, GMA’s resident meteorologist Mang Tani Curz said that the season will possibly last until April like last 2017 or 2018.

The lengthening or shortening of amihan season are caused by the effects of El Niño or La Niña, based on the report.

Weather bureau PAGASA forecasted that amihan will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

It will be cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
