Palace To See If Duterte Can Get Sinopharm Vaccine Via Compassionate Use

DUTERTE SINOPHARM INOCULATION – The Malacañang Palace said that it would see if President Rodrigo Duterte can get inoculated with Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine.

Currently, the Malacañang’s legal team is studying if President Rodrigo Duterte can get inoculated with Sinopharm via “compassionate use”.

Previously, Duterte’s security were also given rights for compassionate use after admitting to use smuggled vaccines. Last month, the Food and Drug Administration allowed its use for 10,000 doses of Sinopharm for those in the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

However, officials defended the action of the PSG and said they did it to protect the President. Meanwhile, the country received 600,000 doses of donated coronavirus vaccines from Sinovac.

Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said:

The legal department is still studying the issue, (whether) the President as commander-in-chief of the armed forces can have Sinopharm under compassionate use

Earlier, Duterte said he would be willing to get inoculated in Public. However, he emphasized that his age might cause complications. As such, he said that he would place the decision to the “discretion” of his doctor.
