Singer-actress Geneva Cruz reacted to the “matanda na” comment of a netizen on her recent beach photo.

Last week, Geneva shared her beach photo on her verified Facebook account. In the photo, she was wearing a two-piece swimwear as she was seated on the white sand of Boracay.

“I was smiling yesterday, I am smiling today, and I will smile tomorrow simply because life is too short to cry for anything. – Somebody Smart,” the singer-actress wrote in the caption of her post.

Based on the article in PEP, a netizen commented this: “Wala na. Matanda na.” Geneva Cruz did not let this negative comment pass. She answered the basher with fierceness.

“Mas matanda ka. Lakas mo makatanda diyan! LMAO Matanda ka na naiinggit ka pa. Umayos ka nga po. Be nice to people,” apparently, she visited the account of her basher, based on what she answered.

Several netizens defended the singer-actress and fired back at the basher. Then, Geneva said that it was not her intention to put the basher on the hot seat but she needs to defend herself.

“Minsan lang kasi napakadaling maging rude sa social media kasi hindi naman natin nakikita ang tao ng personal,” the singer-actress said. She added that she can’t imagine someone older than her would even have that kind of comment against her.

“Old? Just because I’m in my 40s, I’m old, na? Eh before nga nasabihan ako na wag na ko kumanta because I’m old na? Eh, performing is my livelihood; it’s how I support myself, my children, and my family… so excuse me lang if nagsasalita ako kung kinakailangan,” Geneva Cruz stressed.

She also said that she is not ashamed of her because she feels young. For her, it is because of her choice to show love and support for other people and uplift them.
