Plantito In Tacloban City, Arrested Over Illegal Drugs

TACLOBAN CITY – A ‘plantito’ was recently arrested in Barangay Carapdapan, Arteche, Eastern Samar Thursday for having illegal drug plants.

The suspect was identified as Jose Batinga, aged 42 years, separated, farmer. He was arrested at about 7:30 AM.

Arteche police chief Police Lt. Marlo Capate said that they received a tip from a concerned citizen that there is an ongoing illegal gambling activity in their barangay.

Operatives were not able to catch the violators upon verification, but found the suspect watering his plants.

The policemen saw two suspected Maryjane plants which allegedly came from the suspect, who was immediately arrested and was brought to Arteche Municipal Police Station with the two pots of Maryjanes for proper disposition.

Based on the report, Mayor Roland Evardone said that while he understands the hardship that people are going through due to the pandemic, he hopes that the public will not resort to illegal activities that could destroy society, especially the children.

In a separate drug report, a former kagawad was arrested in the municipality of Porac, Pampanga due to illegal drugs and illegal firearm.

Retrieved from the former kagawad were a caliber .38 revolver and ammunition, as well as one packet of suspected illegal drugs which weighs about 3 grams and a value worth at about P20,400; and drug paraphernalia.
