Teacher Walks Around Community in Sorsogon Carrying Blackboard Earned Praise
A hardworking teacher in Sorsogon walks around the community carrying a blackboard to teach lessons to children amid pandemic earned praise online.
On Facebook, the DepEd Region V – Bicol shared a hardworking Grade 5 teacher Augusto Furaque from San Isidro Elementary School in Bulusan, Sorsogon, who still make children cope-up with the lessons despite the class suspension due to pandemic.
The learning modalities (modular, blended) implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the country are still ongoing because face-to-face classes are still not allowed due to the threat of COVID-19.
Although many students and their parents attend the first few months of distance learning, children and their parents are gradually getting used to studying right inside their home.

Meanwhile, teacher Furaque makes students’ learning better as they have a visible representation of the subject as seen on the blackboard in the classroom. Furaque is touring the communities in Sorsogon to conduct follow-up lessons and teach children under distance learning.
“Nakita ko pong mas natututo ang mga bata kung may blackboard, kasi mas naipapaliwanag at naisasalarawan ko sa kanila ang mga bagay-bagay na kailangan pang ituro sa ilang lessons, at tsaka mas nagiging participative sila sa learning process,” said the 56-year-old that teacher.
According to DepEd Region V – Bicol who shared Teacher Furaque’s story, they allow the teacher to go from house to house as long as they still follow health protocols such as wearing a face mask and social distancing even if no case is recorded. of COVID-19 in their area.
Teacher Furaque also conducts teaching in open spaces or barangay kiosks to implement social distancing between students. Because of this, Teacher Furaque is greatly admired by the parents of his students.
