Armyworms Attack Onion Farms In Pangasinan, 66 Villages Under State Of Calamity
PANGASINAN – A state of calamity was declared over 66 villages in Pangasinan due to the attack of harabas or armyworms in onion farms.
According to a report from GMA’s Balitambayan, authorities said that about 1,500-hectares of onion forms have been ruined due to the attack of the armyworms or harabas.
The local government unit said that it has used its calamity funds to support about 1,400 farmers who were heavily affected by the armyworms’ attack.
Based on the report, in the year 2016, about 500 hectares of the said farms were attacked by armyworms.
