Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach revealed the reason why she had to undergo therapy after she won the most prestigious beauty pageant title.
Almost six years ago, a Filipina was crowned as the third Miss Universe from the Philippines. The triumph of Pia was celebrated by the whole country as it took decades before a Pinay won again.
Indeed, Pia represented the Philippines with pride and the prestige that her title carried was indeed overwhelming. However, behind the glitz and glamour of the pageant world, the Pinay beauty queen had to fight a battle against her own self.
Talking to Siera Bearchell, a beauty queen and model, Pia Wurtzbach has opened up this chapter in her life. The Pinay beauty queen admitted on a recent YouTube vlog of Siera that she had therapy and consulted the help of doctor.
Pia shared that after winning, she had to stay in New York and this was not easy. “Living New York alone, away from your family, and not being able to see them for a year, you can get homesick, you can get tired,” she shared.
The overwhelming attention that she suddenly received from people she met worsen what she felt at that time. “You think about them, about the people back then. And every little mistake you do, so magnified. I was missing my family,” she added.

She also mentioned that the fact that she had a boyfriend back then, did not please everybody and some thought that she should just focus on her reign as Miss Universe.
“I’m very hard on myself. I felt like I was letting people down. It’s me versus me,” Pia Wurtzbach revealed. On the other hand, she is thankful that the Miss Universe Organization took care of her.
