The additional increase was to provide assistance for tourism workers who were severely hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Based on an interview from ABS-CBN, Bello said:

Meron kaming mga total of P16 billion, nadagdagan pa ng P3 billion although this is the budget of the Department of Tourism because this is intended to provide assistance to those working in the tourism industry

Bello stated that DOLE has allocated a budget of P5,000 per qualified formal worker. Meanwhile, OFWs would be given around $200 or P10,000. Along with this, DOLE said they also had a budget for informal workers as well.
