Mountain Province Records More Cases OF COVID-19
COVID-19 CASES IN MOUNTAIN PROVINCE – Recently, the Mountain Province has been closely monitored due to an increase in coronavirus cases.
Furthermore, the province has been placed on high alert as outbreaks of the new UK coronavirus strain has been confirmed. According to health authorities, 32 of the 1,709 residents tested in Bontoc were positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, two of the 418 swabbed in Sagada had positive results.
Currently, 819 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Mountain Province. Of that number, 230 are active cases. Additionally, several cases of the UK variant have also been detected in Bontoc. As such, Sec. Vince Dizon stated during a televised briefing that: “Eight million tests na tayo simula ng nag-ramp up tayo ng testing..“
Moreover, he noted that the government ramped-up its testing capacity to 45,000 coronavirus tests per day following the detection of the UK strand in the country.
In a bid to contain the virus, 5 villages in Bontoc were placed under strict lockdown. Meanwhile, the Department of Health earlier said that they were still looking at the OFWs who returned to the Mountain Province to find the source of the UK variant that spread in Bontoc.
