41 Call Center Agents of BPO Company in Bacolod City Test Positive for Coronavirus Disease

41 employees of a popular BPO company in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental test positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Dr. Chris Sorongon of Emergency Operation Operation Center – EOC deputy for medical said that they started monitoring Transcom since January 23, 2021 after one of their employees tested positive for the virus.

The 21-year-old male patient from Barangay Bata, Bacolod City experienced fever and cough symptoms. The authorities conduct a contact tracing with other employees of Transcom and two other workers test positive on the same day.

Two other call center agents from the same company test positive last January 25 and 26. On January 27, two additional test positive and seven others have been infected on January 29.

EOC has decided to conduct a surveillance test to around 594 Transcom employees and 27 of them test positive for COVID-19.

Sorongon considered the soaring cases of COVID-19 in the company as workplace transmission. He is also glad that the close contacts of the employees test negative for the disease and encourage the public to observe health protocols.

On Sunday (January 31), Transcom temporarily suspends their operation for the disinfection of the entire building.
