Dispose Face Masks, Face Shields and Gloves Properly, DENR Reminds Public

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has reminded the public to dispose face masks and face shields properly.

Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda is urging the public to dispose their personal protective equipment and household health care waste properly to avoid contamination and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

Antiporda explained that the usage of face masks, face shields and gloves are useless if the people would not dispose it properly. The Filipino people are still required to use PPEs outside their homes.

The environmentalist groups are also expressing their concern over the increasing amount of non-biodegradable household health care waste. The public is advised to place their PPEs in a yellow trash bin.

However, the agency admitted that not all barangays would be given. He asked the local government units to assign a designated disposal area for household health care waste.
