American Actress Cicely Tyson Dies at the Age of 96

Hollywood publication Variety reported that the international actress Cicely Tyson passed away at the age of 96.

On Thursday (January 28, 2021), the 96-year-old actress Cicely Tyson who is earned Emmy and Tony awards has already died. Her family confirmed her the reports but no cause of death was given.

Tyson’s longtime manager Larry Thompson confirmed that actress’s sudden death. “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing,” Thompson said.

The American actress and fashion model has been active in the showbiz industry for more than seven decades. She rose to fame for embodying African-American women who demanded attention.

Cicely Tyson is best known for playing the roles of former slaves, civil rights icons, sharecroppers, truth tellers, mothers and other complicated women. She also received the Medal of Freedom award from former US President Barack Obama.

The late celebrity has been featured in numerous films and television programs such as “Sounder” (1972), “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman” (1974), “Roots” (1977), “The Marva Collins Story” (1981), “The Women of Brewster Place” (1989), and “The Help” (2011).
