Here’s what Albee Benitez said about the “rant” of Johnny Manahan
Brightlight Productions owner Albee Benitez was asked to react to the “ranting” of Sunday Noontime Live director Johnny Manahan.
Following the decision of the production company to end the musical variety show on TV5, Mr. M said that they were surprised. He even said that they expected that the show will last at least six months.
In line with the sudden end of the show, as a businessman, Albee Benitez explained why he had that decision, based on Ricky Lo’s article in The Philippine Star.
“We were really hoping that there would be some light but I never saw that light. Whether you believe that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, at a certain point it becomes a business decision. Ano muna tayo…cut losses. Let’s fight some other time,” he said.
“I told them, ‘Sorry na lang; let’s just fight another day, let’s wait for the signal to be better,” the former Negros Occidental Congressman added.
Brightlight Productions was line-producing SNL with Cornerstone. Albee Benitez said that he just gave them the weekly budget, which was not revealed how much, and he has no idea how it was divided.
However, since the lifeline of TV show is its rating, the producer said that they had to cut the losses.
“Ang hirap naman that we would continue and keep on losing money. Masakit naman ‘yon! You are spending big money and it’s not earning anything, and you are paying everybody pa,” Albee Benitez said.
He also said that he did not read about the “ranting” of Johnny Manahan.
