Due to Rising Market Costs, Street-side Eateries in Quezon City Lift Their Food Price
STREET-SIDE EATERIES – Food businesses in Quezon City raise their viands’ prices as the pork meat and other spices cost hike and other products in the market.
The sale of the dish in some eateries in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City has increased by P5 to P15. This is due to the high prices of meats and spices especially pork in recent weeks.
Some retailers like Melanie Medina have been forced to add prices because they are just recovering investment instead of increasing profits. But they can only raise up to P5 because they may lose a customer.
Based on the report of ABS-CBN News, they just added a small amount as many customers complain when they exaggerate their prices. According to other cafeteria owners, their P2,000 budget for market shopping is just for spices.

Other eateries on Scout Bayoran Street did not raise the price to give fair to their neighbor eateries, instead, they only reduce the serving or quantity of the dish served.
Meanwhile, Jovely Bofill’s cafeteria no longer serves pork and beef because it is expensive. They even increased the price of pork and beef from P45 to P60 but they could not always sell it.
It is also inevitable that there will be those who agree on the price of the dish. But some customers say they still need to buy food. Others do not plan to lower the quality of the food they sell.
There was a cafeteria that tried to use frozen pork which was cheaper but their customers did not like it so they went back to fresh even though the price was higher. They hope that even if nothing can be done to increase the price of goods, the government can take care of it.
