Over 800 Kilos Of Undocumented Frozen Meat Confiscated In Bacoor City

BACOOR CITY – Over 860 kilos of undocumented frozen meat were confiscated in Bacoor City in Cavite province.

The frozen pork and beef packed in boxes were aboard a reefer van, which underwent inspection by operatives from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Region 4A and that Bacoor City Veterinary Service Office – Meat Inspection Team, according to a report from ABS-CBN News.

The said joint task force early morning at the Aguinaldo Highway in the city.

City meat inspector James San Gabriel said that 35 to 40 boxes of meat were not included at the certificate of meat inspection of the said van.

There are other meats that were repacked in boxes but do not have the NMIS sticker attached to them. Aside from that, the reefer van does not have an NMIS accreditation.

The meats that were supposed to be taken to Tanza, Cavite also came from the city.

They underwent cold storage verification and phased out those that were found mishandled and rotten.

Based on the report, a week ago, meat inspectors confiscated 300 kilos of recently-slaughtered chicken It was because the source was not registered.

San Gabriel warned of the increase of these cases due to the rie of demand of meat especially during holiday.

It also warned the public that there is a possibility that the quality and safety of meat that came from unregistered sources.
