Malacañang Palace Declares January 23 as Special Non-Working Holiday in Bulacan

WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace has released a proclamation declaring January 23, 2021 as a special non-working holiday in Bulacan.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the Proclamation 1077 declaring January 23, 2021 as a special day in the province of Bulacan. The special holiday aims to mark the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic.

The Proclamation 1077 has been approved by Medialdea on Monday (January 18, 2021). Medialdea signed the document using the authority bestowed by President Rodrigo Duterte. The proclamation aims to allow the Bulacan residents to celebrate the event.

Special Non-Working Holiday

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the province of Bulacan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” the proclamation states.

Malolos, Bulacan has been established as the First Republic of the Philippines on January 23, 1899, which also marks the anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo presidency. Aguinaldo is the first Philippine president.

The Official Gazette stats that the Philippine Revolution culminated the Malolos Republic, which resulted to the creation of Katipunan and the First Constitution and Republican Government of Asia.
