The PAF said in a statement that a UH-1H with tail #517 of the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing crashed at 2:30 PM Saturday while it was conducting resupply mission for the 8th Infantry Battalion with another UH-H1, according to SunStar.

Four crew and three passengers were onboard the said helicopter, who all died in the crash.

“Members of the 8IB rushed to the crash site to secure the aircraft and the ill-fated aircrew and passengers. The Philippine Air Force will immediately be sending an investigation team to determine the cause of the mishap,”

4th Infantry Division spokesperson Major Rodulfo Cordero Jr. reported that the helicopter faced engine trouble.

All air assets were undergoing “strict, regular and redundant” maintenance before and after each flight mission, the PAF said.

PAF commanding general Lieutenant General Allen Paredes said that he assured the families of the fatalities that necessary assistance and aid will be provided to them, based on the report.

Last year, four PAF staff were killed after the Air Force’s Sikorsky S-76A crashed in a rubber plantation in Barangay Upper Manggas, Basilan.
